AMES PATRIOTIC SWORD.

AMES PATRIOTIC SWORD. 30-3/4” single fuller blade etched on both sides with unusual patterns. Left side has a liberty cap in the etched design which also has fine engraving on the un-etched portion including an engraved “N. P. AMES / CUTLER / SPRINGFIELD” marking about 2” above the hilt. Left ricasso and guard both have a stylized bird stamp. Right side of the blade has an etched American eagle above a bow and quiver of arrows. Hilt has an American eagle on the counter guard and a plumed helmet on the pommel. Brass scabbard has stamped and engraved leaf decorations. CONDITION: Fine with slight rubs on the blade, bone grip has some light natural cracking. 4-48593 FS91 (Lowry Estate) (1,000-1,500)
