CASED SHARPS MODEL 1874 SPORTING RIFLE. Cal. 50. SN C53485. The bottom of the 30″ oct bbl is marked “11″, which indicate that the gun originally weighed 15-½ lbs. The rear lockplate screw is missing. In a period hard case with green painted canvas covering. There are leather straps and corners on the case. The maroon felt interior has replaced green felt blocking. The case contains a set of Long Range sights in an orig Sharps Rifle Co. box, an empty 2-pc Winchester box, for .50 cal cartridges, shooting sticks, and a bar of lead. Also accompanied by an orig Sharps .50 cal mold with integral sprue cutter. It has the factory markings on the left handle with #206 which is also on the bottom of the right handle. It is additionally accompanied by a canvas & leather rifleman’s belt with 47 loops for large rifle cartridges containing five Sharps .50 cal cartridges and 1 .45 cal cartridge. It has leather billets with long tongue and square brass buckle. There is another small leather tab attached to the left front side with a brass D-ring and brass hook. CONDITION: Blue/brown patina overall with light to moderate pitting. Wood has been repaired and refinished. Tang sight on the gun is mounted incorrectly and has some incorrect parts. A brass tack is in the left side of the stock. Case is scuffed and stained outside and on the inside. Straps and carrying handle are cracked and scuffed. Extra sight case is spotted with some mildew, and the catch is not working. Sights have strong traces of orig finish. Mold has a dark brown patina with some light hammer marks on the sides. Belt is fine with a medium brown patina. Billets are dry & crackled but in tact. Cartridges are fine. 4-57569 (20,000-30,000)
