She wears a black dress with white fringed shawl and lace collar. Thin brown hair with hair ribbon. Wonderful facial detail on a greenish gray background. Old and possibly original early painted frame. This portrait is similar and may be by the same hand as portrait sold in our gallery August 25, 1994 as number 27 in that sale. This portrait is related to and by the same hand as similar examples housed in the permanent collections as the Abby Aldridge Rockfeller Folk Art Museum.
