ABBOTT FULLER GRAVES (American, 1859-1936) VENETIAN WEDDING BOAT. Outstanding oil on canvas Venice harbor scene shows a large multi-tier boat elaborately decorated in festive colors with flags, flowers and other festive trappings. The large boat travels right to left and is preceded by several gondolas with colorful decoration. The line of boats flying flags goes into the distance. The city is seen as the backdrop under blue and cloud sky. Signed and inscribed lower right “To My Friend Sargent Abbott Graves”. Housed in its original gesso decorated fancy frame with gold liner. PROVENANCE: From a Baltimore, Maryland area private collection. SIZE: 16” x 26”. CONDITION: Very good with inpainting. 9-29619 (75,000-125,000)
