RARE ROPER REVOLVING RIFLE. Cal. 42 rifled. SN 470. 28-1/2” rnd bbl. The bbl has beech front sight. Also mounted on the rear of the frame is an adjustable military type folding sight. The loading gate of the gun is marked “Roper Sporting Arms Company, Hartford, Conn. Pat Apr. 10, 1866, July 14, 1868”. SN 470 on the cartridge carrier. SN 333 is on the forearm. The bbl is marked SN 267 and SN 333, and the frame is marked SN 333. The walnut forearm has a pewter front cap and rear cap. CONDITION: Gray patina with hints of blues on the bbl. Frame shows some signs of silvered casehardening but mostly a brown patina. Rear sight is missing the elevator and adjustment screw. Wood, with about 95% orig varnish, has only minor dents and scratches. Mechanically fine. 4-59106 (3,500-6,500)
