SIGNED AND UNSIGNED (American, Early 20th Century) PORTRAITS OF MR. & MRS. GEORGE T. FRANCIS. 1) Oil on canvas portrait of a woman seated wearing a light colored dress with large rose above waist. She holds a fan and a black shawl on her lap. She wears a diamond ring and large necklace with pendant. Signed upper right which we can not decipher. Probably a Boston School or Philadelphia artist. Housed in a gilt molded wood replacement frame. SIZE 37” x 24”. CONDITION: Some surface dirt, otherwise very good. 2) Oil on canvas laid on masonite half portrait of a standing gentleman wearing a black coat and tan vest. Balding head with glasses and large mustache. Unsigned. Housed in a gold painted and black wide molded wood frame. SIZE: 35” x 24”. CONDITION: Restored with inpainting. Fair to good. PROVENANCE: Collection of Mrs. George T. Francis, Philadelphia, PA. 9-29946 (8,000-12,000)
