EARLY GUS WILSON LIGHT WING SCOTER DECOY. Gus Wilson is Maine’s premiere antique decoy carver and came from South Portland, Maine. This desirable Monhegan Island style surf Scoter drake with beak nearly touching the breast was produced by him sometime during the first quarter of the 20th Century. Features an inleaded head, his typical carved eyes and relief wing carving. SIZE: 17” l. CONDITION: Old in use working repaint, body has an age split and the head and mortise section of head has various old separations or cracks. A neat old Maine decoy. 9-29487 (2750-3750)
