UNUSUAL 18TH/EARLY 19TH CENTURY SNUFFING DEVICE. Most snuffers have a simplified clamping snuffing device. This however has a simple ball shaped structure in the center of which is a spring loaded disc. As the snuffing arm is closed and enters the ball the snipper plate rises and automatically falls as the snuffer door closes completely. SIZE: 7” l. CONDITION: Metal separated on one of the finger holes and probably had little legs beneath the finger support and one time. 9-29490 (150-250)
