FRAMED CLIPPED SIGNATURE C.S. GENERAL ROBERT E. LEE WITH LOCKET CONTAINING A FRAGMENT OF LEE’S PERSONAL FLAG. A beautifully framed clipped signature “R.E. Lee” framed with a period engraving of Lee, a small reproduction confederate flag and gold locket containing a fragment of lee’s personal flag. Handsomely presented in a wood and gesso frame with red and gray cloth matting. Accompanying the item is a visiting card printed “At Home”, and inscribed “General Lee’s flag given to me by col. Allen of Virginia, VA” from which both the signature and the locket were taken. The signature is undoubtedly authentic, the locket containing the cloth fragment is unique to my knowledge. SIZE: 20” wide x 18” high overall. CONDITION: Very good. The signature is large but slightly faded. The locket is very good. One small brass plaque has fallen away from its mounting. 4-43368 CW52 (3,000-4,500)
