UNSIGNED (19th Century) MARINE SCENE WITH SHIPS. Large oil on canvas scene shows a three-mast ship with people aboard and flying the U.S. flag following a smaller two-mast schooner with others in distance. They round a mooring barrel presumably coming into harbor. Blue sky to purple colored clouds. Housed in a magnificent gesso decorated gilt fancy frame. The frame has a period pencil inscription in script “Charles Rolle Esq”. PROVENANCE: From a fine Bucksport, Maine home. SIZE: 26” x 36”. CONDITION: Craquelure, very good. 9-28689 (2000-3000)
