FINE ASTON MODEL 1842 MARTIAL PISTOL. Cal. 54. NSN. 8-1/2” rnd bbl. Marked “US / H.ASTON” on lockplate in front of hammer, and “MIDDTN / CONN. / 1850” vertically at rear. Bbl tang is also dated 1850. Bbl is marked “US / GW / P” on upper side and “JH” on left side. There are “JK.” &“W.A.T.” cartouches on the left flat of the stock. There is also a dished out spot between these two marks where it appears there was a third cartouche. “HK” and “W” inspectors’ initials appear on various parts. CONDITION: Most metal is bright with widely scattered specks of surface rust and pitting. Wood is sharp with little sign of use. Mechanically fine. 4-59005 FS693 (1,500-2,000)
