FAHY’S WATCH CASE FACTORY SIGN. Nice aerial view of their Sag Harbor, Long Island factory complex overlooking Shelter Island Bay, complete with horse drawn buggies, wagons and pedestrians. Located at the east end of Sag Harbor, the factory was built in 1881 on the site of the former cotton mill that had burned down. By 1890, the factory was melting down $6,000 of gold everyday, transforming the metal into 1200 watch cases on a daily basis. Closed since 1981, plans are underway to convert the desirable East End property into Tribeca-style loft condominiums in the near future.
