VERY RARE WINCHESTER MODEL 1876 SMOOTHBORE RIFLE. Cal. 50 Express (50-95). SN 5653. Standard grade rifle completely unmarked except for the serial number with 24-3/8” rnd bbl, full magazine, German silver bead front sight and half moon modified short semi-buckhorn rear sight with checkered edges. It has impressed thumb print dust cover with screwed on rail. The receiver and sideplates have high polished glossy finish and the carrier is gold plated. It is fitted with uncheckered straight grain American walnut wood with straight stock and smooth steel shotgun buttplate. It has a zinc tag stamped number “134” attached to the lever. This is an original tag from the Winchester factory collection and this rifle is listed, as is, in the Winchester Factory Collection book. CONDITION: Extremely fine, as new, possibly unfired, retaining virtually all of its original factory finish to both metal and wood. Receiver has a few minor scratches and the wood a few very minor storage and handling nicks and dings. Case colors on the lever and hammer are brilliant and the buttplate has high polish blue.
