CASED COLT 1849 POCKET MODEL REVOLVER. Cal. 31 Perc. Five shot with 5” oct bbl, New York address, case colored frame, silver plated trigger guard and backstrap with 1-pc walnut grips. Cased in an English oak box with George Gibbs label in the lid, green felt lined with compartments for the revolver, single side Colts’ patent eagle flask, a brass 2-cavity Colts’ patent mold without sprue cutter and a late box of caps. SN 188161. CONDITION: Very fine. All matching except the wedge and rammer lever which are unnumbered. Bbl retains 85% original blue, spotted with light surface rust. Rammer lever retains dark colors. Cylinder retains 65-75% thin plum blue with about 85% strong cylinder scene visible. There are a couple of flat spots on the cylinder. Frame retains about 65% good case colors, stronger in the sheltered areas. Grip frame retains 95-96% original silver and the grips about 95% original varnish. Bore is strong with very fine pitting. Case is fine and retains most of an old refinish. The label in the lid is yellowed but legible missing a 1/2 x 1/2 piece at the bottom edge.
