HAMILTON HAMILTON (American, 1847-1928) THE BUTTERFLY CATCHER. Fabulous oil on canvas scene shows a young girl with long brown hair wearing a brown/red coat, blue pants and long stockings and shoes. She is kneeling on one knee and her hand is out grasping towards a butterfly that has landed on one of the flowers in a large bouquet of flowers which is held in a large blue urn on cement plinth. Colorful poppies and greenery is seen in the background. Signed lower left “Hamilton Hamilton NA”. Housed in what appears to be its original gilt fancy gesso decorated frame. SIZE: 8” x 20”. CONDITION: Very good. Cleaned and restored with relining, no inpainting. 9-29037 (12,500-17,500)
