ANGELATS RIPOL STYLE SILVER MOUNTED CONVERSION PISTOL. NSN. 66 Cal. 5-7/8” part oct bbl. Marked “crown / ANG / LATS” in a sunken cartouche at the rear of the bbl. There are four Angelats listed in Ripol in the late 18th/early 19th C. The Miquelet lock has been converted to percussion, which has removed part of the cartouche and some of the silver inlaid decoration on the bbl. The missing decoration is probably a cornucopia as the flowers that remain are identical to those on the left quarter-flat and they arise from a cornucopia. The identical flowers silver inlaid on top of the bbl arise from a vase. The stock has fancy and engraved silver covering at the rear and on the sideplate. The butt is covered with a teardrop silver plate with an embossed warrior’s head. The silver triggerguard has a sculpted torch finial. The bbl band and forearm band are also silver with line decoration. The belt hook is iron. The lockplate is plain. The ramrod is missing. CONDITION: Iron parts have a gray/brown patina with light to moderate pitting. Silver is fine with slight wear along the sharp edges. Stock has been repaired around the lockplate and at the wrist. Mechanically good. 4-584ll FS617 (1,000-2,000)
