“ALPACCA” SILVER ROCOCO WINE COOLER ON STAND. Last quarter 19th century. Hallmarked on the base “ALPACCA” and also hallmarked “MK”. Alpacca denotes a “silver colored” alloy developed in the 19th century to imitate the color of silver. Please note: There is no actual silver content in this metal. In two parts, the urn-form footed container mounted with cast C-scrolled handles ornamented with scrolling leaf tips. The conforming pedestal base, fluted and molded, raised on four feet of scrolling leaf tips. SIZE: Overall: 23-1/2″ h. x 12-1/2″ dia. PROVENANCE: From a West Virginia Collection. CONDITION: Structurally good with overall minor denting. Base and top original. Surfaces with wear to finish. 9-21801 (800-1,200)
