IMPORTANT AND RARE TALL CASE CLOCK BY AARON WILLARD, BOSTON. Outstanding Aaron Willard tall clock has fine inlaid Roxbury case. Original dial signed “Aaron Willard Boston”. Two weight brass eight-day movement having a moon and calendar dial. The weights are filled tin cans with remnants of original paint. Pendulum and key are present. Outstanding cast flower finials with balls. Inside back of clock has paper label “Clock dials Manufactured by Willard & Nolen Washington Street, Boston”. Hood having nice fretwork top with fluted square plinths with brass finials. Line inlaid door flanked by stop fluted columns with brass capitol. Waist having stop fluted corner columns terminating in brass capitols. Molded edge line inlaid door with brass escutcheon plate. Square base having line inlay and corner dark and light inlaid fan. All supported by four ogee feet and molded base. Dial having corner hand painted flowers. PROVENANCE: Found in the front hall of the J. Hollis Wyman Estate, Milbridge, Maine (State Senator & Wild Blueberry King). SIZE: 98-1/2” h x 19-1/2” w x 10” d. CONDITION: Paint chipping to moon dial, one hand in two pieces but present, one back foot replaced and some minor repair. Otherwise very good with an old refinish. 9-29117 (40000-60000)
