BARTHELMES PERCUSSION TARGET PISTOL. NSN. 52 Cal. 8-3/8” slightly swamped oct bbl marked “B. B. BARTHELMES in ZELLA” in silver letters inlaid in the Damascus bbl. There are also silver bands inlaid at the rear of the bbl and silver military trophies inlaid on the engraved lockplate. The dolphin formed hammer is engraved as is the lockplate, bbl tang and safety. German silver mounts are plain at the front of the forearm but engraved elsewhere. CONDITION: Silver inlay has turned almost black with tarnish but iron parts are generally free of finish with an even gray patina. German silver parts have a pleasing light patina. Stock has minor dents and scratches with some bruises and oil damage in the checkering at the wrist. Lock and set trigger are fine. Wm. Hancock Collection 4-58628 FS620 (1,500-2,250)
