RARE WINCHESTER MODEL 1873 CUTAWAY RIFLE. Cal. 44 WCF. NSN. This extremely rare rifle is a full and complete cut away of a second model rifle. It has 11-1/2” bbl with corresponding length magazine tube, full-length rifle forearm and buttstock with crescent steel buttplate with trap. The entire rifle appears to have been nickel plated at one time with strong nickel remaining on the carrier, lower tang, hammer and internal parts. The cut away sections are all on the left side and completely expose the internal workings of the receiver, magazine tube, bore and chamber as well as the stock and trap area of buttplate. The hammer spring, screw and tension screw are missing. CONDITION: Good. Metal retains traces of nickel-plating in the very sheltered areas, stronger in the aforementioned areas with the balance of the metal a dark brown patina. Wood is sound, missing a chip by the lower tang and another at the heal and retains 60-70% varnish on the stock and 40%+ on the forearm. Buttstock has three small holes on the right side and the forearm and gouge, otherwise, normal use and handling marks. 4-52408 JR207 (5,000-10,000)
