*SCARCE PRE-WAR COLT GOVERNMENT MODEL SEMI-AUTO PISTOL. SN C154553. Cal. 45 ACP. Blued finish with 5″ bbl, orig fixed sights and full checkered wood grips. This 1928 pistol incorporates all of the 1923 changes including the dish cutouts by the trigger opening, shorter hammer spur, longer grip safety horn, checkered main spring housing & full checkered wood grips. Accompanied by one orig 2-tone magazine with unmarked base plate, probably a military style replacement. Very few pistols were produced in the period between the wars and those that were purchased generally saw hard use and were even carried extensively during WWII and Korea by officess as private purchase weapons. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Retains virtually all of its strong, bright orig charcoal blue with visible hardening line on front part of slide. Left front edge of slide has slight wear, probably from sliding around in a drawer. Front & back straps & grip safety retain about all of their orig factory finish with some very fine surface scratches in front strap. Hammer face has very light scrapes. Bolt face retains most of its orig blue showing little or no use. Mechanics are crisp, bright shiny bore. Magazine is crisp. 4-32223 JR234 (4,500-6,500)
