REMINGTON WHITMORE MODEL 1873 HAMMER LIFTER DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 ga. SN 178. Deluxe Grade 1 with 30″ Damascus bbls choked MOD/MOD with smooth tapered rib & sgl bead. Receiver & lockplates are without decoration. It has nicely figured American walnut wood with checkered black insert semi-schnable tip forearm with wedge and checkered straight grip, 14″ over a smooth steel buttplate. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbls retain about 95% thinning brown Damascus pattern. Receiver retains 30-40% faded case colors with the balance turned silver. Right lockplate & hammer retain most of their orig case colors, strong & bright in the sheltered areas. Left lockplate retains about 60% strong case colors. Right hammer will not hold on full cock, it has a chipped sear. Wood is sound with light handling & use marks & retains most of its strong orig finish. There is a small chip from the forearm bbl channel. Hammer, as noted, otherwise mechanics are fine. Brilliant shiny bores. 5-60465 JR194 (1,000-2,000)
