SCARCE REMINGTON MODEL 1873 WHITMORE GRADE 3 DAMASCUS LIFTER HAMMER DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 ga. SN 3912. Scarce graded Whitmore with 30″ “Oxford Pattern” Damascus bbls with smooth concave rib, sgl bead & extractor. Receiver & lockplates are engraved with typical early Grade 3 patterns & borders consisting of light arabesque flourishes. Wood is nicely figured American walnut with black insert, semi-schnable, checkered, splinter forearm & straight stock, 14″ over a smooth steel buttplate. CONDITION: Fine. Bbls retain 50-60% thin Damascus pattern with a few scattered spots of light surface rust. Receiver & lockplates are mostly silvered case colors with some mottled dark spots. Wood is sound with usual nicks, dings & scratches, showing moderate to heavy wear and retains 75-80% orig stock varnish and a lovely patina on the forearm.
