KUCHENREUTER TARGET PISTOL.

KUCHENREUTER TARGET PISTOL. NSN. 48 Cal. 10 3/8” oct bbl. “JACOB?KUCHENREUTER” is inlaid in silver along with scrolls and intersecting arcs on the bbl. A gold cartouche containing a knight on horseback is at the rear of the bbl. The rear of the tang is engraved with a fancy number “1” indicating that this was part of a pair of pistols, although the number “506” on the right side of the butt indicates that it was part of a castle inventory. Brass dovetailed blade front sight with three leaf folding sight at the rear. The stock is carved with flowers at the rear of the tang. The furniture is all iron with a blue appearance, possibly from a silver wash. The ramrod is a replacement and the left half of the forearm tip is missing. CONDITION: About half of the blue remains. Worn on the bbl and triggerguard. Stock has minor nicks with hairline cracks on the wrist. Small chip on the right side of the forearm. Set trigger is not working but the lock is functional. Wm.
