*REMINGTON MODEL 1894 DE GRADE DAMASCUS DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 ga. SN 109060. Could also be a custom “E” grade. It has 28″ “Oxford Pattern” Damascus bbls choked CYL/IMP-CYL, possibly cut to this length. It has flat, matted, tapered rib with sgl bead, ejectors & dbl triggers. Maker’s name & address are on the rib. Receiver appears to be custom factory engraved with vignette of two bird dogs on point on the left side, two setters on point on the right side and a large walking woodcock on the floorplate, surrounded with about 80% extremely fine foliate arabesque patterns. Each side of the receiver has the stamped company name with the name “A. Appleyard” engraved inside an elliptical panel. Fences are triple scalloped with shaded back edges with the forward edges engraved to match the receiver. Trigger bow is engraved with a large pheasant. Wood is nicely figured American walnut with checkered splinter forearm & rnd knob semi-pistol grip stock with raised checkered side panels, 14″ over a Remington logo hard rubber buttplate. There is an initial plate on the bottom. There is an electric pencil number on the water table, the bbl flat & inside the forend iron. Drop at the heel 2-1/2″, drop at the comb 1-1/2″. Weight: 7 lbs. 8.3 oz. CONDITION: Fine to very fine. Bbls retain about 90% strong orig Damascus pattern with some thinning about mid-point & light muzzle edge wear. Receiver retains traces of case colors in the very sheltered areas with the balance turned silver. Wood is sound showing moderate wear with the forearm being dark & oil stained with more oil staining on the wrist & comb of the stock. Stock retains about 50% orig varnish.
