RARE REMINGTON MODEL 1894 EEO GRADE DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal. 16 ga. SN 110475. Wonderful rare Remington with 28″ steel ordnance bbls choked CYL/CYL with smooth, flat rib, sgl bead, third bite rib extension, ejectors & dbl triggers. Receiver is wonderfully engraved with full coverage game scene & foliate arabesque patterns. Left side has two quail & a spaniel head, right side has a flying duck & two woodcock & the bottom a wonderfully detailed standing red stag & reclining hind. Opening lever, top tang, trigger guard & forend iron are engraved to match. Wood is highly figured tiger striped American walnut with ribbon checkered, full coverage, splinter forearm & semi-pistol grip stock with carved, raised, spear point checkered side panels & extensively checkered wrist, 14-1/8″ over a solid red pad. This exact shotgun is pictured on pp. 190/91 in Remington Dbl Shotguns, Semmer. Drop at the heel 2-3/4″, drop at the comb 1-13/16″. Weight: 6 lbs. 10.5 oz. CONDITION: Very good to fine. Overall retains about all of a fine professionally restored finish to both metal & wood. Forend iron, trigger guard & top tang show evidence of moderate rust pitting with other fine pitting on the fences. Receiver & floorplate have been cleaned bright. Stock has some minor chipping back of the top tang & there is a hairline at the end of the forearm with some minor edge losses, otherwise wood is sound showing moderate to heavy wear. Ejectors are a little soft, but functional, otherwise mechanics are fine. Bright shiny honed bores. 5-60449 JR178 (7,500-12,500)
