*RARE REMINGTON MODEL 1894 EE GRADE DELUXE DAMASCUS DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 ga. SN 138537. Spectacular Remington dbl with 32″ “Ohonon” pattern Damascus bbls choked MOD/IMP-MOD with matted tapered concave rib, dbl ivory beads, and third bite rib extension, ejectors & dbl triggers. Maker’s name & address on are on the bbls. Receiver is spectacularly full coverage engraved with vignettes of two bird dogs & a flying woodcock on the left side, two bird dogs & a flying quail on the right side, a large vignette of three ruffed grouse & a small vignette of a bird dog retrieving a quail on the floorplate, all surrounded by very well executed foliate arabesque patterns & the maker’s name in a sweeping elliptical ribbon on both sides. Lettering in the name is graduated. Fences are eautifully engraved with geometric & arabesque patterns. Opening lever, top tang, trigger guard & forend iron are engraved to match. Wood is very highly figured French walnut with a full checkered ribbon pattern forearm & capped semi-pistol grip stock with checkered raised spear point side panels & extensively checkered wrist with ribbon patterns, 13-7/8″ over a serrated hard rubber buttplate. Right side of the buttstock is inlaid with a 2-1/2″ x 1-1/2″ gold oval plate engraved in great detail with the vignette of two squirrels on a limb with limbs & leaves in the background & a well executed rope pattern border. This exact shotgun is pictured on pp. 206-211 in Remington Dbl Shotguns, Semmer. Drop at the heel 2-3/4″, drop at the comb 1-1/2″. Weight: 7 lbs. 8.3 oz. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbls retain about 95% strong orig blue Damascus pattern with some wear & staining around the muzzle & a cleaned spot under the forearm. Receiver retains about 25-30% faded case colors mostly in the sheltered areas with the balance turned silver. Wood is sound with light handling & use marks, a scratch in the checkering on the wrist & a bruise on the forearm and retains most of its orig beautiful hand rubbed dark oil finish. Forearm shows moderate wear. Mechanics are fine, bright shiny bores. 5-60447 JR176 (15,000-25,000)
