SCARCE KUCHENREUTER PERCUSSION TARGET PISTOL. Cal. 50. NSN. Beautiful silver mounted pistol with 10-1/2″ oct bbl with dovetailed front sight & 3-leaf target rear sight. Top flat of bbl is inlaid in silver script “BARTH JOS KUCHENREUTER IN REGENSBURG” and has foliate arabesque patterns in silver on both top side flats. Mounted in a burled walnut 1-pc stock with two wedges & silver furniture. It appears to have orig ramrod with a replaced tip. Grip & forestock are carved & checkered with leaf patterns and raised carved foliate & floral patterns around top tang. Trigger guard, with its fancy finial, & all other furniture are beautifully engraved. Left side panel has a small silver oval engraved with number “2”. It has sgl set trigger & a fancy scalloped oval butt cap. CONDITION: Fine. Metal is a mottled silver/gray patina having been slightly cleaned. Stock has a crack on left side with some chipping around front wedge, otherwise is sound with usual handling & use marks and retains most of its orig varnish.
