TWO GERMAN STONEWARE GOLFING ITEMS. 1) Signed stoneware Mettlach-type 1/2 liter stein of a golfer playing through oak trees. Impressed on underside with “HR” over “GERMANY” over “1001”. 2) Signed Mettlach pitcher in shades of greens and yellows depicting golfers at play. Mounted with a pewter lid and ram’s head handle. Signed on the underside with under glaze mark “Made in Germany” and with the backstamp of Villeroy & Boch/Mettlach”. Stamped with model number “2348”. SIZE: 9-1/2″ h and 13-1/2″ h respectively. PROVENANCE: Robert Frederick Woolworth Estate, Monmouth, Maine. (F.W. Woolworth Store). CONDITION: 1) Chip to base and denting to pewter lid. 2) Large chip in spout and deterioration of attachment of to handle. 9-23565-1 (400-600)
