TWO ENGELAS RUNNERS, NORTH PERSIA. 1st quarter 20th century. Originally a pair, now altered for staircase. All with floral lattice work in shades of blue, gray and ivory on a soft pink ground. The blue/black main border with polychrome floral lattice work. SIZE: 1) 16′ 10″ x 2′ 9″. 2) 1st section: 5′ 5″ x 2′ 9″; 2nd section: 11′ 3″ x 2′ 9″. PROVENANCE: From an Ellsworth, Maine Estate. CONDITION: All sections with full pile. Each with small tack holes. One example intact, the second example now in two sections (see detail photos). One end of intact runner with a small cut and fold on side to accommodate turn in landing. The second runner with a horizontal, clean cut. 9-21961 (800-1,200)
