SCARCE MILLER CONVERSION RIFLE MUSKET. Cal. 58 RF. SN 639. Scarce conversion, one of only about 2,000 made in the period 1865-67. Built on an “1863” dated Parkers’ Snow musket with 39″ bbl, square base front sight/bayonet lug and standard 2-leaf musket rear sight. It is mounted in its orig 1-pc. walnut stock with three bands & tulip head ramrod. Conversion consists of a trapdoor type breechblock attached on a dovetail at the rear end of the bbl. Raising the breechblock actuates a spring-loaded extractor. CONDITION: Very good to fine. Metal is mostly a smooth brown patina with the lockplate cleaned to silver metal color. Stock is missing some chips by the ramrod channel, otherwise is sound with usual handling & use marks. Hammer is missing half cock, otherwise mechanics are fine.
