SCARCE MILLER CONVERSION RIFLE MUSKET. Cal. 58 RF. SN 1720. One of about 2,000 conversions made in the period 1865-67 utilizing an 1861 musket. It consists of the orig 40″ bbl modified with a pivoting trap door style breechblock at the rear end of the bbl mounted in a dovetail. It has square base front sight/bayonet lug with 2-leaf musket rear sight and 1pc. walnut stock with 3 bands and sling swivels. CONDITION: Good to very good. Bbl retains a cleaned mottled silver/brown patina as does most of the other iron furniture. Lockplate is cleaned to a silver patina. Stock is sound with a dark hand rubbed patina. Good mechanics, strong bright bore, dark in the grooves. 5-60368 JR87 (1,000-1,500)
