GOTHIC REVIVAL CARVED OAK HIGH BACK BENCH. Late 19th century. Rectangular back with angular peaked crest above the conforming frieze carved with medieval shields over four carved panels each depicting a medieval knight beneath Gothic arch joined to the rectangular seat base with paneled hinged lid opening to a storage compartment. Base with 8 linenfold carved panels. Figured oak bench with a “fumed” finish. SIZE: 60-1/2″ h x 60-1/2″ w x 19″ d overall. CONDITION: Structurally very good with old, if not original, fumed finish. Back stenciled “MADE IN BELGIUM”. 9-22224 (500-800)
