FINE DERINGER POCKET PISTOL. NSN. 41 Cal. 2-5/16” irregular bbl. Marked “DERINGER / PHILADELA ” on the lockplate and breech plug. The breech plug is also marked with the sunburst “P” and has German silver lines at the front and rear edges. The lockplate, hammer, breech plug, cap box cover and all German silver mounts are engraved except the nosepiece. The triggerguard has a pineapple finial of the style usually found in the 1848-1850 period. CONDITION: Fine overall with traces of the Damascus pattern remaining on the bbl, but no gold fleck. Casehardening on the lock and breech plug has turned dark. Wood is fine with slight wear to the varnish on the grip. Mechanically fine. 4-60671 FS780 (1,500-2,500)
