PARKER G GRADE LIFTER 3-BBL DRILLING. Cal. 12×12/38 CF. SN 81882. Unusual hybrid with the rifle bbl added to the top of the shotgun bbls with center hammer for rifle bbl that functions on the front trigger. It has 26″ Damascus bbls with usual G grade engraving on the lockplates & receiver. Top of the rifle bbl is fitted with a tiny Rocky Mountain dovetail front sight & folding sgl leaf rear sight. Wood is streaky French walnut with checkered splinter forearm and capped pistol grip stock, 14″ over a dog’s head hard rubber buttplate. Accompanied by a Parker Collector’s Assoc. letter identifying this shotgun as having been shipped July 27, 1895 to C. Carlson of Grand Rapids, MI. Letter states that a special request was made that the bbls be 1/16″ thick at the muzzle which leads one to the speculation that it was ordered with the intent to add rifle bbl. CONDITION: Good to very good. Bbls retain an artificially aged brown patina. About 4-1/8″ of the bottom rib is replaced and the solder around the rifle bbl is loose. Wood is sound with the forearm showing heavy wear and the buttstock moderate wear, retaining about 75% orig finish. Good mechanics, moderately pitted right bore. 5-60328 JR52 (1,250-1,750)
