TWO STAFFORDSHIRE TOBY JUGS. 19th century. The first a Pratt type example with stippled spout and base depicting a gentleman drinking from a Toby pitcher. The second depicting a gentleman in an indigo coat with long hair seated in a “roundabout” chair. SIZE: 10″ h; 11-1/4″ h. respectively PROVENANCE: From a fine Texas Estate. CONDITION: The first with shallow rim chips in area of spout and with restored handle. Toby jug in left hand minus handle. Hat with old staple repair. The second example with restoration to handle and with general craquelure. 9-22974 (400-700)
