RENAISSANCE REVIVAL MARBLE TOP CHEST AND COMMODE. Third quarter 19th century. The chest of drawers with white marble top fitted with a tilting mirror within a molded surround surmounted by a carved bouquet of flowers, mounted on carved supports, terminating in glove boxes with lidded compartments. The chest fitted with three long drawers, each with a central hand grip of carved nuts and fruit, each within a molded surround. The base fitted with a hidden slipper drawer. The commode with white marble top, back splash and candle shelves, all with molded edges. The base fitted with a long drawer with carved hand grip above a pair of molded cupboard doors on a molded base. These are of the same period, however, not matching. SIZE: Chest: 80″ h x 43″ w x 19″ d. Commode: 42″ h overall x 31″ w x 17-1/2″ d. PROVENANCE: From an Ellsworth, Maine Estate. CONDITION: Structurally very good with old, dry surfaces.
