RARE “US” MARKED PARKER GRADE 1 LIFTER HAMMER DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal. 10 ga. SN 6751. Built on a #2 frame with 22-15/16″ twist steel bbls. Plain rib with extractors, uncheckered straight grain American walnut wood with splinter forearm with wedge and straight stock, 14-1/8″ over a smooth steel buttplate. About mid-point on both sides of the buttstock are faint, well-worn “US” stampings and an identical stamping on the toe of the buttplate. No other governmental marks were observed. Accompanied by a Parker letter indicating shipment on March 23, 1876. The letter states that it was shipped with 29″ bbls. CONDITION: Fair. No orig finish remains with the bbls being a dark brown patina with light surface rust & pitting. Receiver & lockplates are a mottled silver/brown patina with fine scattered pitting. Buttstock has a crude repair of a major break through the wrist, which appears to be very old. There is a missing sliver by the right lockplate. Forearm is sound and overall the wood retains a smooth dark patina. Left hammer screw is broken and the hammer is peened around the stud. Poor bores, good mechanics. 5-60360 JR83 (1,500-2,500)
