RARE PARKER P GRADE LIFTER HAMMER DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal. 16 ga. SN 18720. Built on an “O” frame with lightning cuts in the water table, it has 26-1/16″ Damascus bbls with smooth tapered concave rib with sgl bead and extractors. Lockplates have a zigzag & dot border with two patterns of light arabesque engraving. Hammers are also lightly engraved. Receiver & trigger guard are plain. Wood is nicely figured English walnut with checkered splinter forearm & rnd knob stock, 13-1/8″ over a smooth steel buttplate. Accompanied by a Parker letter identifying this shotgun & indicating shipment June 30, 1880 to M.F. Kennedy Co. of St. Paul, MN. The letter indicates that it should have 28″ twist steel bbls & an LOP of 14-1/4″. The bbls appear to have been cut a long time ago & the stock was cut during period of use. CONDITION: Good. No Damascus pattern remains being a gray/brown patina with scattered light pitting & one area of heavy pitting. Receiver & lockplates retain traces of orig case colors with the balance a mottled silver patina. Wood is sound showing moderate wear & most of an old restored finish. Good mechanics, moderate to heavily pitted bores. 5-60344 JR68 (1,500-2,000)
