HERMANN OTTOMAR HERZOG (American, 1832-1932) HUDSON RIVER VALLEY. Oil on canvas landscape scene shows a woman with basket backpack walking down a dirt road toward a small village with church and houses. A large river or lake is seen with sloping mountains. All under a cloud and blue sky. Nicely detailed trees and bushes with two birds flying overhead. Signed lower right “H. Herzog”. Housed in a fine gold gesso decorated period frame. PROVENANCE: From a fine downeast Maine home. SIZE: 18-1/2” x 25-1/2”. CONDITION: Relined, craquelure, minor inpainting. Very good. 9-29362 (6000-10000)
