VERY EARLY CASED PARKER GRADE 2 HAMMER LIFTER DAMASCUS DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 ga. SN 661. Fine early Parker with 30″ Damascus steel bbls, cleaned to CYL/CYL. Receiver & lockplates have light border patterns & scattered arabesque flourishes. Fences have a deep raised scallop. Lifter button has been replaced with an aluminum one. Wood is extremely beautiful Circassian walnut with checkered splinter forearm secured with a sgl wedge & straight stock, 13-3/4″ over a skeleton buttplate with checkered center. Bottom of the stock has a gold shield engraved “H.S. SACKETT / BERLIN / WIS”. It is accompanied by an orig Parker walnut casing with replaced leather handles. It is green felt lined with compartments for the shotgun and a cartridge block for 49 cartridges, which contains 35 Berdan, primed brass shot shells. Also accompanying is a copy of a Parker shotgun catalogue cover & pages 9 & 10, which contain a testimonial for the Parker from Mr. Sackett. CONDITION: Fine plus. Bbls retain most of a very fine professionally restored finish with a fine blue/gray color. Receiver & lockplates retain traces of case colors in the very sheltered areas, mostly having turned to silver. Forearm has several chips & splinters from the edges of the bbl channel, otherwise the wood is sound with a minor nick or two showing heavy wear on the checkering and retains most of a fine professionally restored finish. Good mechanics, strong bores with scattered light to moderate pitting. Case is fine with a crack in the lid from an added screw with a loose end joint. Interior is relined with the divider refinished. Case retains most of an old refinish. Shell casings are fine. 5-60365 JR470 (3,000-4,000)
