RARE PARKER QUALITY 6 DAMASCUS DBL BBL HAMMER LIFTER SHOTGUN 2-BBL SET. Cal. 10 ga. SN 6801. Built on a #2 frame with 32″ & 28″ Damascus steel bbls, two forearms, smooth ribs, sgl beads & extractors. Receiver has deep relief dbl scalloped fences with deep recessed scallops around the firing pins. Receiver, lockplates & hammers are wonderfully engraved with small vignettes of a bird dog & partridge on the left lockplate, a bird dog & a woodcock on the right lockplate, a running stag on the front bottom of the receiver & a spaniel in a marsh scene on the trigger bow. Lockplates & hammers are beautifully engraved with fine foliate arabesque patterns & the maker’s name in an arced ribbon on each side. Bottom of the receiver & trigger guard are engraved to match. Wood is nicely figured American walnut with checkered splinter forearm with wedge & rnd knob semi-pistol grip stock with raised teardrop side panels, 14-1/4″ over a skeleton buttplate with fine checkered center. Knob has an oval gold initial plate. Accompanied by a Parker letter indicating completion in Oct. 1876 and is a factory 2-bbl set. Also accompanied by a green felt lined leather trunk case with removable top trays for the bbls. Bottom is compartmented for the receiver, two forearms, ammunition & cleaning tools. CONDITION: Fine. 32″ bbls retain about 75% strong orig gray/brown Damascus pattern with moderate wear, light nicks & dings, bright shiny bores with a spot or two of light pitting. 28″ bbls retain about 50% thin gray/brown Damascus pattern with light wear & scattered light dings with a cleaned, touched up spot on the left bbl. Bright shiny bores. Receiver retains 30-40% case colors, faded & turning silver. Lockplates retain about 75% fading case colors. Wood is sound with usual handling & use nicks, dings & scratches with the forearms retaining a fine smooth patina & the buttstock 85-90% of an old restored finish. Mechanics are fine. Case is dark, worn & oil stained with open seams, missing straps & handle. Interior is slightly mothed with some light soil & staining. 5-60477 JR147 (8,000-12,000)
