VERY RARE PARKER LARGE FRAME #2 GRADE DAMASCUS DBL BBL LIFTER HAMMER SHOTGUN. Cal. 8 bore. SN 33371. Built on a #6 frame with 32-1/4″ Damascus steel bbls, apparently cut to this length during the period of use. They have smooth rib, sgl bead & extractor. Receiver & lockplates are beautifully engraved with light border patterns & have partridge on the left lockplate, flying ducks on the right & a woodcock on the bottom with scattered light arabesque patterns. Fences have a light vine & leaf pattern with a light border at the breech end of the bbls. Buttstock is very highly figured center crotch cut feather grained American walnut with rnd knob semi-pistol grip, 14-1/8″ over an old crystallized solid red pad. It has a straight grain checkered splinter forearm with wedge. Drop at the heel 2-1/2″, drop at the comb 2″. Weight: 13 lbs. 9.0 oz. Accompanied by a Parker letter identifying this shotgun as a “G” Grade with 36″ bbls and weighing 14 lbs. 4 oz. It was sold with 3″ chambers that have not been lengthened and also had “OLD FASHION KEY FOREND”. CONDITION: Bbls as noted, otherwise very fine with the bbls retaining 50-60% thin brown Damascus pattern with a cleaned area & several spots of light pitting on the left side. Lockplates & hammers retain virtually all of their bright factory case colors. Receiver retains traces of case colors in the sheltered areas with the balance turned silver. Wood is sound with some light grain checks near the butt & retains a smooth hand rubbed patina. Mechanics are fine, bright shiny bores with one or two small spots of pitting. 5-60544 JR165 (3,000-6,000)
