EARLY MARKLIN ONE GAUGE STEEPLE CAB LOCOMOTIVE. Locomotive has cast iron truck frames, cast iron wheels, mounted to a metal base. Bases are black with dark green sides with simulated silver rivets and hand painted with a dark red pantograph. Nickel hand railings both sides and gold trim around windows. Has early mounted electric headlights at each end, which work. Retains its two brass Marklin ID plates, plus two rubber stamped plates. Ends of locomotive lower portion is lettered “P.O.E.I” in silver on red orange background. Truck, power unit and swivel are mounted to the base itself. Locomotive is lettered one side of door “P.O.”, other side “E.I.”. Other side has two rubber stamped plates. CONDITION: Paint has some checking lines, normal for this locomotive. Some alligatoring on top of cab. Appears to be one small touch up on roof and one or two minor chips on frame. Steps are intact. No reverse switch. All windows have complete celluloid except two. Couplers and buffers are intact. Beautiful locomotive. CONDITION: Overall near excellent. EC 1-6442 (3,000-4,000)
