PARKER E GRADE DBL BBL DAMASCUS HAMMER SHOTGUN. Cal. 10 ga. SN 41491. Built on a #3 frame with 30″ Damascus bbls, smooth rib, sgl bead, doll’s head extension & extractors. Receiver & lockplates have light patterns of arabesque engraving and game scenes of pheasants on the left side, geese on the right side & a pheasant on the bottom. Wood is highly figured American walnut with checkered splinter forearm & pistol grip stock, 14-1/4″ over a deep dog’s head buttplate. Forearm is stamped with the number “88” near the back end. Accompanied by a Parker letter indicating shipment Sept. 13, 1884 and completely identifies the shotgun. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbls retain 95-97% strong orig Damascus pattern with slight muzzle & edge wear. Receiver retains traces of orig case colors with the balance turned silver. Lockplates retain about 95% orig case colors, moderately faded, bright in the sheltered areas. Stock has a tiny line behind the top tang, a repaired toe and retains most of a professionally restored finish. Mechanics are fine, bright shiny bores with scattered fine pitting. 5-60378 JR96 (1,500-2,500)
