CONTINENTAL GILTWOOD CARVED MIRROR. Last quarter 19th century. Rectangular plate within a beaded molded surround. The ornate carved cresting of classical form and with allegorical subject depicting a crossed arrow and quiver within leafy sprays centering a pair of birds, in pine. The frame sides with ribbon tied tassels. SIZE: 47″ h x 27″ w. PROVENANCE: Connecticut family home which descended from Sarah Upson Goodrich (Mrs. Oliver R. Beckwith) who descended from the Rev. Charles Chauncey, President of Harvard College and Elder William Brewster. Sarah was a member of the Connecticut chapter of the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America. CONDITION: With original mirror plate and with original gilded surfaces. In need of minor cosmetic restoration within crest. Otherwise very good. 9-21855 (800-1,200)
