CHICAGO, ROCK ISLAND & PACIFIC RAILROAD R.O.G. TRAIN SIGN. Seldom seen smaller version of this sign of which only a limited quantity was produced to adorn the walls of select railroad depots. The CRI&P RR was also known as the “Rock Island Line” and in later years as simply “The Rock”. This spectacular image depicts the train passing over the Illinois River, three miles east of LaSalle, Illinois. The sign is reverse hand painted and highlighted with thin slices of mother-of-pearl that imparts a jewel-like quality to the engine, tender and passenger cars. SIZE: Image in frame is 16-1/4″ x 10-1/2″ h.
