SCARCE PARKER DH GRADE DBL BBL DAMASCUS HAMMER SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 ga. SN 79470. Built on a #2 frame with 30″ fine pattern Damascus bbls, matted rib with sgl bead, doll’s head extension & extractors. Receiver has beautifully scalloped deep relief fences and has typical “D” pattern engraving with a bird dog & quail on the left side, bird dog & partridge on the right side, four partridge & a pheasant on the bottom, all surrounded with about 75% coverage foliate arabesque patterns. The “S”-shaped opening lever & trigger guard are engraved to match. It has very nicely figured American walnut wood with checkered splinter forearm & pistol grip stock, 14-1/8″ over an engraved checkered skeleton buttplate. Accompanied by a Parker letter indicating the shipment on Dec. 9, 1893 to Thorsen & Cassidy, Chicago, IL. The owner is listed as Truemuer Haist of Cavalier, ND and the cost was $100.00. CONDITION: Fine plus. Bbls retain about 95% strong, orig, fine Damascus pattern with what may be a small separation about mid-point in the right bbl and other small nicks plus some light pitting at the muzzle. Receiver is a gray metal color and the lockplates retain traces of case colors in the sheltered areas. Wood is sound and retains most of a professionally restored finish.
