PARKER QUALITY 3 (D GRADE) DAMASCUS DBL BBL HAMMER SHOTGUN. Cal. 16 ga. SN 46086. Early top lever hammer gun built on an “O” frame with 29″ Damascus steel bbls (reduced to this length) choked MOD/MOD, smooth rib with sgl bead, doll’s head extension & extractor. Receiver has nicely scalloped fences with deep relief scallops over the firing pins. Receiver & lockplates are nicely engraved with left side having a pointer & two partridge in a field scene, right side has a setter & partridge with two geese on the front end of the bottom & a standing quail in front of the trigger guard, all surrounded with 30-40% coverage fine arabesque patterns with scalloped borders. Wood is burl grained English walnut with checkered splinter forearm & pistol grip stock with raised teardrop side panels, 14-1/4″ over a skeleton buttplate with checkered center. There are two light flourishes of foliate engraving on the chamber end of the bbl rib. Drop at the heel 3″, drop at the comb 1-3/4″. Weight: 6 lbs. 12.3 oz. CONDITION: Fine plus. Bbls retain about 60% gray/brown Damascus pattern, worn thin over the forearm area. Receiver retains 30-40% faded case colors with the balance turned to smooth silver. Lockplates retain 75-80% faded case colors, stronger on the left side. Wood is sound with light handling & use marks and two or three deep scratches with the forearm having a fine patina & the buttstock retaining about 80% orig varnish. 5-60479 JR149 (2,000-3,500)
