CHARLES GEORGE COPELAND (American, 1858-1945) “LIWA KILN ON THE GEORGES RIVER”. Unframed watercolor scene shows a large building with black chimney belching black smoke. Masts are seen beyond the buildings of a boat docked on the river. A house with barns is seen on hill with white fences and two figures walk to the water. Titled bottom left and signed “Copeland”. This scene is of the Georges River near Thomaston, Maine, an area that Copeland knew well as he was born in this town and painted Maine scenes. SIZE: 19″ x 23-1/4″.
